Patrick’s Grille is the latest endeavor in a decades-long restaurant legacy, during which time the Fitzsimmons family has operated 5 restaurants over 23 years. It began on April 7, 1997 with the opening of La Cantina on Route 35 south in Neptune City. The Tex-Mex establishment was a favorite of locals and tourists alike.
Six years later they started their next venture just across the highway in a new renovation of what was Fud’s Pub & Lindy’s, the original establishment at the site. Brennen’s Steakhouse opened in 2003, named after their first-born son. This was known as a fine dining destination with the finest meats and delicious seafood. The elegance and warmth were presided over by the late Al Rando on the sleek baby grand piano.
In 2004, La Cantina was remodeled and the name changed to The City Grill. In the summer of 2005 it was sold to solely focus on the popular Brennen’s Steakhouse.
In January of 2011, the demand was still strong in the area for Tex-Mex so they opened a second La Cantina in the Neptune City shopping plaza. Kevin and Maura decided it was time to name a restaurant this time for their youngest son Patrick.
In March of 2014 after extensive renovation Patrick’s Pub opened. This was a sports themed Irish pub, with good fare and cold beer. It was loved by the community and had a very loyal following and just a fun place to meet friends, family for food, drink, good company and live music on weekends.
On March 16th with just a two hour notice the Governor of NJ mandated closure of all restaurants by 8pm due to Covid-19. By the end of May the family decided they needed to re-evaluate having two restaurants in these crazy times. They closed both places permanently and completely renovated Brennen’s Steakhouse site.
On September 4th, 2020 they opened Patrick’s Grille featuring the best of the Pub and Steakhouse menus. They continue their tradition of quality food, drink and service that have been the hallmarks of all their establishments. We are looking forward to serving you.
